En un comunicado divulgado hoy, la compañía británica anunció que también a Amsterdam, con 13 vuelos semanales; a Belfast, también con 13; a Faro, con 8, y a Jersey, con 7 frecuencias por semana. EasyJet también informó de que a partir del próximo mes de diciembre ofrecerá servicios a Ginebra desde ese aeropuerto. En el caso de los destinos a España, la aerolínea ofertará a partir de hoy 7 servicios semanales a Barcelona; 7 a Alicante a partir del 5 de abril; 3 vuelos a Ibiza, que comenzarán a funcionar a partir del 28 de abril, y 7 a Málaga a partir del 1 de mayo, así como 4 a Mallorca a partir de esa misma fecha. En total, EasyJet operará 70 vuelos a la semana desde ese aeropuerto británico y contará con tres aviones modelo Airbus A319 en London Southend, aeropuerto en el que empleará a más de 150 personas gracias a la apertura de estas nuevas rutas. La aerolínea británica también señaló que ha firmado un contrato por diez años con la empresa Stobart Group, propietaria del aeropuerto, que ha invertido hasta la fecha 80 millones de libras (96 millones de euros) en la remodelación de London Southend. Entre las obras realizadas, se ha construido una nueva torre de control de tráfico aéreo, una estación de tren que comunicará con el centro de Londres, una ampliación de la pista y una nueva terminal.
